about

When I was six I started making movies.

Back then my dad was working in film as a composer and an editor in these massive analog studios at his house. I hit Every. Single. Button. He showed me how to make an edit and ever since then, I was hooked.

At 14, I started honing my skills as an editor, creating content that aired on PBS, ESPN, CNN, FOX, and ABC. After years of editing, I found myself dreaming of bringing my own visions to life. I started focusing my energy behind the camera while directing films, beginning with the award-winning short documentary Aerodrome (2012).

After spending years working across multiple disciplines, what I really resonate with are character-driven stories– their personalities,  the way they see the world, their dreams, their fears, their experience.

They are the emotional center.

Cinematography to me isn’t just about making pretty pictures. It’s about a feeling. When I pick a lens or move the camera, there’s a reason. Every decision that’s made affects the story– the light, the shadows, the color, composition, movement, sound, perspective– everything matters.

In 2015, I started a production company along with Chris Rahm and Kashka Glowacka called Northguild to help meet the demand for films of different sizes and longer-form projects. This opened up opportunities to work with talented gaffers, PAs, writers, editors, composers, producers, and directors.

Whether it be long-form, short-form, documentary or narrative - I’ve spent the past 30 years learning how movies connect with people.
